About the Project
Introduction
Welcome to MIND MATTERS: Promoting Mental Health Awareness in the Church Community. I’m Amelia Jordan, a proactive Girl Scout, and I’m excited to share my Girl Scout Gold Award project with you. My goal is to foster mental health awareness and emotional well-being among elementary students in our church community.

What is the Girl Scout Gold Award?
The Girl Scout Gold Award is the highest achievement within the Girl Scouts of the USA, earned by Senior and Ambassador Girl Scouts. It represents excellence and leadership, requiring girls to identify and address a significant issue in their community. Only 5.4% of eligible Girl Scouts earn this prestigious award(https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gold_Award_%28Girl_Scouts_of_the_USA%29). To earn the Gold Award, a Girl Scout must complete two Senior or Ambassador Journeys or have earned the Silver Award and completed one Senior or Ambassador Journey(https://www.girlscouts.org/en/members/for-girl-scouts/badges-journeys-awards/highest-awards/gold-award.html). The project must demonstrate sustainable and measurable impact, and the Girl Scout must lead a team to carry out her plan(https://www.girlscouts.org/content/dam/girlscouts-gsusa/forms-and-documents/our-program/Gold%20Award/Girl_Scout_Gold_Award_Guidelines.pdf).

Overview
Through engaging faith-based activities, we help students learn to manage and express their emotions in a supportive environment. Our activities include:

– Prayer Pals: Pairing students with prayer partners to encourage spiritual and emotional support.
– Kindness Rocks: Creating and sharing painted rocks with positive messages to spread kindness.
– Trees of Hope: Writing and hanging hopeful messages on a tree to inspire and uplift the community.
– Coloring Mood Meters: Using coloring activities to help students identify and express their emotions.

Our Impact
We’re directly reaching out to elementary students and indirectly impacting their families and the broader church community. By integrating mental health awareness with spiritual growth, we aim to create a lasting impact grounded in faith and mutual support.

Sustainability
To ensure the longevity of our impact, we’re providing guides and resources so that churches can implement these faith-based activities as part of their regular programs. Our goal is to create a sustainable culture of empathy, kindness, and mutual support within the church community.
